Scaling-ing my teeth

Nun, my ‘sister’ called up yesterday to check out on me. She wants to drop by at her father’s clinic and wondering whether I want to go as well as I’ve been nagging non stop about my teeth.

It’s been awhile since I had my scaling. Actually, it has been years, the last time I had it was in the year of 2004, in my final year in UIA to be exact.

So, Nun being so generous picks me up at my office and we went straight to Uncle Tajuddin’s clinic in Rawang. It’s not that far from PBD with this new highway.

Dentist always bring shivers down my spine. By looking at all the dental equipment, the steels and the drills is enough to me dizzy and grasp for air. Uncle Taj had to assure me several times and used all his skills in managing patient just to keep me still. I guess if there are sweets nearby, he might resort to coax me with it as I’ve been behaving like 3 years old kid.

Uncle Taj has a magnificent gift in being a dentist apart from he’s a specialist and has being in the industry for over 40 years. I remember the last time I went for scaling, the doctor is being so hard on my gum that it bleeds several times over the course of my treatment. But with Uncle Taj, I hardly bleed; he cleans it perfectly that I can’t find any traces of cavities at all. He finishes it with polishing. It’s damn funny about this polishing thing, the sound of it just like hearing the sound of my car being polish.

He wants to give me a great family discount but since my company covers the bills, I asked him to quote higher, hehe. He deserves it anyway.

Being non- HALAL

I’m easily tired lately due to my hectic schedule. So, in order to overcome my lack of energy, I went to the nearest pharmacy and bought a supplement. I browsed through the shelf, picking up several bottles after bottles to have the right one for my body. The salesgirl quite adamant to give free consultation why I’m in needs such vitamins after vitamins. By the time she finishes, the list has reached more than 10 bottles. Perhaps she genuinely worried over my wary and unkempt look plus with the dark circle.

Somehow, I’ve decided to try on Evening Primrose Oil, I’ve heard that it is good for woman’s blood circle. I’ve taken several capsules until I realize something. There is no Halal logo anywhere on the bottle. Immediately, I stop the intake and let it be in my office drawer for months.

While I rummaging my drawer looking after my file, I’ve found the bottle again and decided to thoroughly check out the brand in a whim. The result is disastrous. Not only has it had no Halal logo, the gelatin in soft gel shell is from bovine source. Yuck!

This is what I found from the net about this bovine:

The biological subfamily bovinae includes a diverse group of 10 genera of medium to large sized ungulates, including domestic cattle, the bison, the water buffalo, the yak, and the four-horned and spiral-horned antelopes

Can I imagine that all this while I’ve been eating non-halal food for weeks? How careless I am in taking serious over the halal issue. I’m being so lackadaisical thinking that since it’s just a mere vitamin, I shouldn’t check before buying and eating it. Halal goes beyond pig and wine, mind you.

I couldn’t forgive myself for being a sloppy. I’m a Muslim, and as a true Muslimah, I should practice good governance on foods intake. From now on, I would be careful, I mean, extra careful in buying things that will goes down the throat.

hiking...history in the making

Friends who close to me know well that I’m far than being an outdoor type of person.

I never indulge in any outdoor activities. I rather sit at home with a great book in hand. That is what I call an ‘activity’. I’m open up for a challenge when my cousins insisted me to come for a hiking yesterday. So far, my definition of hiking only reserve for shopping complexes as I bet no one can walk non stop for hours with shopping bags in both hands. To add more, with high heels nothing less.

We arrived at FRIM by 7am. There are so many people already, some with a complete gear for hiking. Armed with my latest nike, bought in Gold coast, to cheer up my effort, we went up to a hill with other hikers. I’m quite surprise to see so many people at that early morning, some came along with their small kids.

i'll add pics later, see ya!

boycotting phase mode

I’m boycotting Starbucks. Not because my action would actually close down the whole operation but I believe my stands will somehow makes a difference. I’ve received some feedbacks which rather skeptical about the whole idea. Its sound far fetches for a start, does my action will actually makes Starbucks bleed, everyone doubt so, and I doubt it too.

Let hear this first, if ten people choose not to spend RM 10 in Starbucks for one day, Starbucks will lose RM 100 per day. Even though I’m not majoring in Business or Marketing, but surely RM 100 per day means a lot to any business outlet.

I also encourage my cousins to follow my steps, some rather ecstatic about the idea of boycotting Starbucks as we spend most of the time hanging in Starbucks for cuppa of caffeine, surely the place will miss us(money) greatly.

One of my colleagues chided my intention, telling that we can’t really function without American products. Yes, indeed, even I can’t blog without using this American software, like I said before, I do doubt my ability to crash the Jewish economy but I’m doing this for the sake of showing my support for the Palestinians, showing my protest and at least I’m doing something rather sit back and wait for a miracle to come.

Does my action helps? We'll see as i dont have the answer either.

It’s a first step and more to come…

"Kelab Music 1994"

I’ve just putted this pic in FB yet within a second, I’ve receives so many comments. It shows how much we’re missing each other, missing the old days and the beauty of being schoolchildren. Other friends whom in the pic help to tag and named several people that ive forgotten. The pic was taken in 1994 while I was 13 years old hence don’t blame me if I forget few names.

I’m not pretty sure in what event we’re performing, Azreen told me perhaps it was Hari Guru or something. Somehow I still remember that we had practicing non stop for one month. It was so damn fun and we’ve stayed back after school to polish up our skills and went to nearby mamak afterwards for snacks which took longer than practicing time.

Now looking at where we are now, I’m proud to say that we’re still the same like before, full of laughter and amusement, nothing has change.

I wish I would take more pictures before, but we’re not that fortunate like kids nowadays. Not everyone afford to have a camera, even that, we’re borrowing our parents unlike kids nowadays who had their own digital camera.

According to the Gravepine,Datuk Siti...

Two of my classmates are working in entertainment industry. One is in Utusan and another in Astro. While having our break, we always equip ourselves with the most important, vital stories that really matters to life and death, that would be gossiping artists.

Well, yesterday’s latest news would be on Datuk Siti. Poor her, even after two years, Malaysians include me still not letting her free from endless speculation and guesswork. I wonder why her? I mean she is not the only person whom ended up marrying suami orang. Is this because people have so much hope on her and putting her above the pedestal that she could never do any wrongdoings. Em, this is the questions that I’ve been asking myself from time to time as I’ve been so fixated over her latest news lately.

Her so called break up has been splash in the main newspaper yesterday. Not to forget, it was even covered by Chinese and Tamil newspaper. There goes our true Malaysian Muhibah culture, hahaha. Somehow it does makes me wondering is everything ok? If it is true, that would be a catastrophic. I bet Malaysians especially the ladies would overjoyed over her impending breakdown. Believe me, there are some who has given her, the most 3 years of marriage.

I have no comment over this matter, because honestly, I’m on Tengku Zawyah’s (the first bini) side :-p

quiz for you!

Dearie loves to give me quizzes which sometimes irritated me. I know he means well, but his quizzes are rather far fetching from my brain radar. Ok, today’s quiz would be the differences between a sedan and saloon car? He’s sporting enough to let me browse thru the net in finding the answer. But the answer found is rather obscure. Sedan is in British English and Saloon is in American English. Is that all? All I care about car is whether it comes in my favourite color and its fuel consumption.

Previously he used to challenge me about why we need to buy plasma instead of LCD. My answer at first would be “Em, don’t you think that Samsung LCD would look nicer in our living room as it comes with red lining?” Hahaha, I did sounds bimbo at times. So there I go again browsing thru the net, looking everything I can grasp about Plasma and LCD. In other words, I can get extra money doing sales in Senheng shop now.

But somehow I realize his way has profound effect to me in being more knowledgeable, and not taking things into granted. I know a lot of things nowadays that stretch far from handbags, make up and shoes.

Still, I intend to get even. Today’s quiz for Dearie would be:

“What is the difference between matte and moist lipstick?”

Take that baby!

STAT strucks

I was struck with total numbness when Prof Jusang teaches us in Malay last night. I took Statistics before and luckily I still remember most of the terms. But by mentioning those Stat terms in Malay is out rightly funny. Ok let’s have the list:

Variable: Pembolehubah
Median: Memusat (I never realize there are such word as memusat, does it came close to pusat?)

I don’t really mind if he wants to teach in Malay, but why can’t he stick in English when it comes to Stat terminologies. I feel hopeless.

Still, I aim to get an A for this paper. I want to show it to the world, no :-) I just want to challenge myself in getting back at my endless bad marks on Stat before.

the greatest lies ever

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/3998664/Holocaust-survivors-love-story-exposed-as-a-fraud.html

I’ve just read this article. No wonder the Iranian President is adamant in telling the world that Holocaust is totally a fabrication. To me Holocaust is merely a great storybook to make the world sees the Jews as a victim thus help to condone their act against Palestine. I hope more lies will be exposed.

happy study

Helmy, my colleague took a day off today, as he’s sending her daughter for her first day of school. Like a normal parent, he’s rather ecstatic with finally accepting that her daughter has move to the next level. I still remember my first day of school, wearing a dark blue pinafore, short hair and all. I was brave; I didn’t cry like other kids or keep looking for parents standing over the window. My mom teaches at the same school too. Well, quite glamour back then, anak teacher, they called me.

Today also is my first day of new semester. Last night, I rummaged my closet searching for a calculator as today’s class would be statistics.

I truly miss my classmate. We had a great semester last year. Well, happy study to me.

BBQ on the last 1 Jan 2009!

" gambar poyo kami"

"busying ourselves wif foods"

yummy!
On the last 1st Jan, we had a BBQ! We did it at my home; others came with endless of pot lucks and thus make the BBQ table overfilled with foods, a fattening one I may add. We’ve decided to make it exclusively for cousins only but parents are much welcome to crash the party. Nadia came with her pasta salad, but we kind of miss her signature potato salad.

I manage to make the partiers drool over my barbequed chocolate melted banana. It was my first attempt and everyone keeps asking for the recipe. Wow, what an accomplishment.

We played charade afterwards, and sadly may team had to bow to other team’s prowess. But still, it was so fun.

ending it with style

My activities on the last 31st January…

a) going out to Alamanda, bought two new shoes, which is so cheap and carry my size
b) watching a movie, the Bedtime Stories by Adam Sandler, a so-so one, Sandler had done better and could do better
c) beat a guy in a game arcade, well, perhaps not a great move, need to feed on man’s egoism, em, whatever, I hate to loose
d) been back at home by 9am, fall asleep immediately…

(the post above shows my so unadventurous mode in celebrating the New Year, while others shouting happy new year loudly, singing Auld Lang Syne, but i've gone deaf over nonstop ringing of messages from well wishing friends, does it mean that I lead an unglamorous life? hehehe)

just a humble servant

I ended the 2008 with a doa and start my 2009 with a doa too. As I believe I’m just a humble human that needs Allah’s blessing in order to walk in His land.

Some of my relatives came over to my home and we had our last Asar of 2008 lead by my uncle whom kind of imam in our family. Cousins from all over places came over too and we recited doa akhir tahun in unison, to mark the end of the year and showing our gratitude to Allah that helps in strengthening our family.

I’m praying that after all, all that I have with me, every single thing, a great family and friends, my car, and my dresses that fill in my closet, my so damn many shoes and handbags is all come from Allah. Without Him, I’m nothing.
